My Signature Framework
My coaching practice is built on my belief that there is always another ring of growth available to us.
I don't believe in growth for its own sake; that can lead to excess, burnout, and collapse. But I do believe that intentional growth that aligns with our values can be a deeply rewarding, transformative experience.
In coaching, I'm constantly talking this talk. What my network doesn't always see is how I practice it myself. Currently, I'm focused on growing the way I communicate what I do and who I serve. I decided that sharing this blog post was an experiment worth running toward that goal. So allow me to reintroduce myself...
I love to serve creative leaders who feel overwhelmed, isolated, or burnt out and really want to make sustainable contributions to a life-affirming future for their community.
There are three principles behind my coaching practice:
We celebrate the process
We lead with curiosity
We practice interdependence
My process can be broken down into three steps:
1. Focus.
One of the few things we can control is where we focus our attention. Now more than ever, our attention is an endangered resource. We're pitted against sophisticated digital engineers and insatiably attention-seeking public figures who want to trade our attention for profit and power.
I partner with my clients to get crystal clear on what's most important to them--what they truly want to pay attention to. As their coach, I build an enclosure around these sacred topics and corral their focus, no matter what antics their brain tries to break containment.
2. Discover.
The reason our attention is so valuable is that it's so powerful. When we sustain our attention long enough on what matters most to us (our visions, goals, etc.), we reliably have breakthroughs.
In coaching, I support clients to discover where they've been getting in their own way, and see new possibilities that they might have dismissed or ignored. Most of our beliefs and conclusions are not conscious thoughts; they're running in the background like programs in our brain's operating system. I bring them to the surface so my clients can decide which ones are still serving them, and which limiting ones they're ready to leave behind.
3. Take Action.
New insights are exciting, especially for people (like me and you) who love learning. But what produces lasting change in your life (and, incidentally, in your brain) is taking action.
In every session, I guide my clients to see the next, most useful step based on what we've just discovered together. Action metabolizes insight, moves us closer to our goals, and transforms us in the process.
